Cherry Pie Event

There's a cool women's networking group (well, to be honest it's more like a networking event) called Cherry Pie. It's organized by a human dynamo named Catherine, and the next event is scheduled for Thursday Feb 27th at 8pm. Location is Social at 527 Sussex Drive in Ottawa.
It's networking like you've never experienced. If you're a woman, grab your biz cards and go. Questions? Email
catherineknows@videotron.ca

I attended the October 2006 Cherry Pie event (along with the 3 other women involved with PAWS for Charity) and was amazed at the turnout and variety of displays.
To top it off, I entered a draw to help raise funds for a breast cancer survivor dragonboat team (sorry girls, can't remember your team name). I won the grand prize for the draw! I now have a fantastic piece of art made from my very own dna. It's a totally cool concept done by an Ottawa company called DNA11. Read all about their novel creations at
www.dna11.com (from life comes art). And...for you dog lovers out there...you can even have art work done using your dog's dna! Bet none of your friends have something like that.

B.A.R.K. needs your help

B.A.R.K. (Bytown Association for Rescued Kanines) is a registered charity based in Ottawa, Ontario. We have supported BARK for years, and our Mulligan is a BARK rescue dog.

BARK needs your help. (check out full details on their website
www.bark-ottawa.com) A beautiful 7 month old Rottweiler pup named Marcus has just been rescued and has lots of problems. He had been left outside in the brutal cold for weeks. He was not walking very well and x-rays revealed that Marcus has loose hips from lack of exercise, the muscles are starting to atrophy. This can be corrected over time with a strict regime of exercise and good diet.

What they cannot fix with love and proper care is his right elbow. He has classic OCD (floating bone fragment) which requires an expensive surgery. This is a very painful condition, and he is on a good pain control medication until he can build up his weight and strength. This gives BARK time to fundraise for the surgery. If you can help, please send a donation to:

B.A.R.K. 2229 Braeside Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario K1H 7J6 OR
you can donate through Paypal by going to the donations page on their website
www.bark-ottawa.com
Marcus thanks you.

Your Dog Photos

We receive lots of photos from dog lovers everywhere. This is a pic of Midnight in Port Hood, Nova Scotia. It's truly a small world...Port Hood is a small community in NS...and the spot of my very favourite family vacation. My husband, son & I loaded up the cat and 2 dogs in a van about 9 years ago (before our 3rd dog Mulligan arrived on the scene) and rented a cottage in Port Hood for 2 weeks. It is absolultely gorgeous scenery...beaches, boardwalks, sunsets...and total relaxation. My son was 11 at the time, and took our husky Bailey down to the beach on his own. They were his first independent outings and of course I worried the whole time (even though I could see them!)
We love to receive your dog photos. If we really like your photos, we put them on our dog biscuit packages (with your permission, of course!) The best photos for our packages are close ups, done in the landscape format. (the photos on our packages are 3 1/2 inches wide by 1 3/4 inches high) Remember to set your camera on the "high" setting...we need a high resolution to be able to print your photos. Check out our website for full details.
Our next print run will likely be in March or April...so send in your photos soon.
