Very Merry Berry Muffin Recipe

Last year I was fortunate enough to be featured on a couple of tv shows. Late in the year I made some festive muffins on the morning show for The A Channel in Ottawa. Believe it or not, after the show many of the muffins disappeared...the camera crew were eating them as snacks! This happens quite often with our biscuits. We always use human grade natural ingredients...so lots of people try out our biscuits themselves. Some of our fans eat them regularly. But, I digress. After the tv show I had lots of requests for our Very Merry Berry Muffin recipe. I thought I'd share it with everyone:
1 cup skim milk
1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/3 cup honey
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/3 cups unbleached (or whole wheat) flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 cups chopped fresh cranberries

Combine wet ingredients, then add dry ingredients. Mix together. Add cranberries. Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes.

Our dogs love them. Let me know what your dog thinks!

PAWS for Charity 2006

I'm one of the four members of the PAWS for Charity team...created in 2006 to raise funds for various charities. The four of us own dog related businesses and contribute some or all of our proceeds from certain products to charity. For the first year (as well as 2007) we chose breast cancer research as our designated charity. This pic shows us making our first donation to The Canadian Cancer Society in December. Our 3 month project raised over $2200! Pictured here (from left to right) are: Kelly Gaon, Canadian Cancer Society Fundraising Coordinator, me (with my eyes closed!), Char Harding (aroundthehounds.com), Julie Kelly (chillydogs.ca) and Suzanne Bird (photobysuebird.com).
This is such a dynamic group of women...a real powerhouse that I'm so happy to be involved with. We'll be launching our 2007 campaign soon. Details about our Crunch for a Cure biscuits can be found at this link

Welcome!

Welcome to the new Barks & Bites blog!
A new year brings a new challenge for me...learning how to blog. I started The Barking Biscuit Company in 1998, and you can check out the full details on my site www.barkingbiscuit.com, but I'm planning to use this blog to update our fans & friends about the dog biscuit world of The Barking Biscuit on a more regular basis. Stay tuned!
