Kiss the cod "a Newfie tradition involving alcohol and a codfish. When you go into a bar in Newfoundland, you may be asked to "kiss the cod". You will then take a large swallow of screech, and actually kiss a codfish!"

I have never heard of kissing the cod. The alcohol is fine, but the fish sounds icky.
